The Heart of Our Business: Faith and Family

John and Rachel Corcorran, the founders of Sterling Creek Homes, were both raised in the Lubbock area and spent their lives there until 2015. Their love for family runs deep, and with five children, their faith and values have always been the guiding force in both their personal and professional lives. Through the years, John and Rachel cultivated an entrepreneurial spirit, always striving to identify the needs in their community while supporting their growing family. Their journey began with a successful turnkey investment and property management business in Lubbock, where they grew to manage over 130 self renovated properties. John’s passion for real estate investing and development, paired with Rachel’s design eye and love for the Hill Country, sparked a new chapter in their lives. With a heart to build not just a business but a life they could be proud of, they sold their Lubbock business and moved their entire family—along with their parents—to Llano, Texas.

A New Beginning in Llano: Roots in the Hill Country

When John and Rachel arrived in Llano, they found not only a place to live but a community that welcomed them with open arms. John had just completed a B&B development project in Fredericksburg—a vision he and Rachel shared—pouring their hearts into it over the course of two years, carefully overseeing every detail to ensure it exceeded their dreams. Alongside this, they acquired property on Lake LBJ, where John began developing his very first waterfront community, turning another dream into reality.

Over time, their family’s love for the area deepened. Their children, one of whom went back to his roots in Lubbock is set to graduate Summa Cum Laude with an architect degree from Texas Tech (Go Red Raiders!), are growing up surrounded by the natural beauty of the Hill Country. The people, the river, the slower pace of life—they’ve truly found a home in Llano. With investments in properties around Lake LBJ, Fredericksburg, Boot Ranch, and the Texas coast, the Corcorrans have firmly planted roots in the heart of Texas.

Building More Than Just Homes

The success of their ventures was built on hard work, dedication, and a strong team committed to the same values. When John and Rachel saw a lack of builders in Llano, they recognized an opportunity to serve the community by launching Sterling Creek Builders (now Sterling Creek Homes). What started as a humble operation, with John and Rachel working out of their home, soon grew into a thriving business with more than 25 employees, servicing the Hill Country and the Texas Coast in Port Aransas.

The first few projects were personal: building a lakefront home for John’s parents at Lake LBJ and an in town home for Rachel’s parents in Llano. These were labors of love, rooted in their deep appreciation for family and the desire to create something beautiful that would last for generations. With every home built, Sterling Creek Homes strives to honor God by making sure each customer is treated with the utmost care and respect, always focusing on what is best for them.

From those early days of managing contractors in a makeshift office while raising small children, to building a team of passionate individuals who share the same vision, we have come a long way.
